Johnny, We are saddened to hear of the passing of your mother. She was a dear lady and our family has fond memories of visiting with both your parents, staying in your their home, and experiencing their hospitality. I wish we lived closer, so we could have done it more often. I remember my dad speaking fondly of Texas and his loved-ones there. You were a wonderful son and set a good example for the rest of us of how to show love and honor to parents. We are praying for you and sorry we could not attend the service. Love, Janet and Steve Jack and family

We have truly lost to heaven a great lady. Through her, she open the windows of the world to many students through her love of literature and she gave me a great love for Shakespeare and the other masters. The time that we had the school reunion in the old gym and it was packed, they were talking about Mrs. Grant and all the students that she had taught and they asked all that had been in her class to please stand, everyone stood expect for about a hand full of people. She touched many lives. She opened her class one year with Ecclesiastes 3:1 " To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven." Hers was sharing her love of the written word with many that now reaches around the world. She will be truly missed for I loved her greatly.

Mrs. Grant had us write a journal every week, it had to be 3 pages. 43 years later I still enjoy reading them! Ruth and I got Daddy's truck stuck one day, Mrs. Grant said "Now you will have something to write about!" I have the very best memories of the times I spent in English with all of you, especially the Sunday morning breakfasts after church. My love to all of you.

When Earth's last picture is painted and the tubes are twisted and dried, When the oldest colours have faded, and the youngest critic has died, We shall rest, and, faith, we shall need it -- lie down for an aeon or two, Till the Master of All Good Workmen shall put us to work anew. And those that were good shall be happy; they shall sit in a golden chair; They shall splash at a ten-league canvas with brushes of comets' hair. They shall find real saints to draw from -- Magdalene, Peter, and Paul; They shall work for an age at a sitting and never be tired at all! ~~ The Last Envoy by Rudyard Kipling

Jonathan, your Mother was such a role model for the many students that she taught at Avery High School. I wasn't a very good student in her English class, but she was a very great teacher and she is remembered fondly by me and always will be. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. May God Bless your entire family.

Oh how she was loved by all of those in contact with her. She was the standard of all the educators that followed her! She will be greatly missed by those that love her! Rest in Peace Ms. Margie! NO ONE ELSE EVER CAME CLOSE!
