Obituary of Mary Joe Hanson
~~Mary Jo Hardman Hanson, age 100, of Annona, passed away, Tuesday, October 03, 2017, at her residence.
Mary was born April 18, 1917, in Annona to Dr. William E. and Fleta Wootten Hardman. Her parents, her husband, Roger Hanson, her sister, Margie Hardman and 2 brothers, John and Delos “Pete” Hardman precede her in death. Mary Joe was a teacher at Clarksville for many years. What made Mary Joe such an outstanding teacher was the love and enjoyment she got from, and gave to, her students. She treated everyone kindly and with respect, all her students were special. When Mary Joe retired in her late sixties, she became a student again. She learned to play the piano and she played for her church for many years. She began to take painting classes and became an accomplished artist. Mary Joe celebrated her 100th birthday this year in April. She walked across the road from her longtime home to the church to meet and greet her many friends. Mary Joe will be truly missed.
Funeral services are set for 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 5, 2017, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Dink Benton and Rev. Bob Bush officiating. Burial will follow in Annona Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
Mary is survived by her cousins, Helen Hoffman of Annona, H.C. “Sonny” Brown of Longview, Susan Taylor of Clarksville and Bill Russell of Stamps, AR.
