James,
Faye and I have heavy hearts. We just learned of this today. Your dad was in many ways my hero. Our aviation association dates back to before WWII when my dad had a Piper cub that he occasionally flew. Much later my brother and I became Navy Pilots, and probably you dad was an influence in that matter.
Were you aware that the house you grew up in on a First Street was our house before I returned to active duty? I sold it to your dad and mom in the late 50s as I recall.
I recall that you and your wife, along with Dick and Karen, visited us here in Maryland many years ago.
To sum up the matter, we feel a great loss. Your dad was a man to be admired. I feel I have lost something very valuable in my life.

I was so sorry to hear of Buddy's passing. He was an outstanding person and unfortunately there aren't many of his caliber still around. His lifetime accomplishments were phenomenal, and our community owes him greatly for his hard work and efforts on our behalf. My sincerest condolences to you all.

I am so sorry for your great loss. Mr. Vaughan was such a worker in his community as well as an accomplished pilot and many other hats he wore. What an impressive write up. All that explains why you (James) was such an outstanding person to work for @ FFCB. Sure hope you enjoy your retirement. Sure hope you & Pam have a great retirement together. I will be thinking of you all today!

James and Clare,
I feel as though I have lost a member of my own family. Your dad was a wonderful man with a great sense of humor who always made me feel welcome, whether it was at your family home or at the North Lake cabin. I have so many fond memories spent with the Vaughan family. He and your mother were such fine people and were a special part of my childhood. I send caring thoughts to all of you at your time of loss.
Love,
Rhonda

James, Claire, I think you picked the perfect picture of your dad in the cockpit of a fighter plane. I remember him most fondly as a pilot, working with Mr. Sunkel in many years past. He always had a smile for everyone and was always an active guy. I know you'll miss him, but now he's out there soaring in the skies as never before and enjoying the companionship of those who went before him. He's home now.
Pam and I offer our sincere condolences on your loss.
