Obituary of Joseph McPeak
Joseph “PaPa” McPeak, age 90, of New Boston, passed away, Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at Hospice of Texarkana. Mr. McPeak was born, June 30, 1926, in Avery to Edgar Robert and Ruthie Caroline Denison McPeak. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of the Godley Prairie Community Church. Mr. McPeak was preceded in death by his wife, Jean McPeak; 2 brothers, Albert and Weldon McPeak; and 1 sister, Claudia Phelps. “PaPa” enjoyed cooking and was well known for his deserts. He was a friendly man who loved his family and took very good care of his sisters.
Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 8, 2017, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow in Avery Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are, Allan Willis, Austin Pritchett, Cory Cowley, Eric Dews, Aaron Ramsey, Ty Frost and Charles Ramsey.
Visitation will be held an hour before service time Sunday at Clarksville Funeral Home.
Survivors include 1 son, Jody McPeak and wife, Kimberly of DeKalb; 1 daughter, Stacia Waters and husband, Jason of Atlanta; 3 sisters, Flora Bell Jackson of Avery, Grace Baldwin of Avery and Velma Chapman of Avery; and 2 grandchildren, Aaron Ramsey and McKenslei Waters.
