Obituary of Sam W. Rose

. Sam W. Rose, Jr., age 68, of Bagwell, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2010, at Paris Regional Medical Center. Sam was born April 18, 1942, in Clarksville, to Sam W. and Pauline Vickers, Sr. He was retired after working for both the Liberty Eylau and Texarkana Arkansas School Districts. Sam was a member of the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. Sam’s second love after his family was Hot Rod Cars. He participated and won many car shows but he always won the Ladies Choice Award. He was preceded in death by his wife Patsy Ruth Johnson Rose and a nephew Chad Langford. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 16, 2010, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Kellam and Rev. James Brown officiating. Burial will follow in New Haven Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 4 to 6 at Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Wayne Penny, Kenneth Henderson, Larry Meredith, Jay Johnson, Zack Rose and Blaine Langford. Honorary Pallbearers are Gary Foglesong, Charles Dawson, James Carson, G.A. Hines and Charlie Guinipp. Survivors include his son, Sam William Rose, III and wife Kimberly of Negley; his daughter, Shannon Carson and husband Jimmy of Negley; two sisters, Vickie Sue King and husband Pat of Rockwall and Judy Langford and husband Ronnie of Texarkana; a brother, Randy Lee Rose and wife Christi of Gun Barrell City; three grandchildren, Zackary Rose, Breann Rose and Owen Rose; one great-grandchild, Mariah O’Neal and the extended Johnson family from Idabel, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials may be sent to the Hopewell Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 244 Clarksville, Texas 75426.
