Obituary of Ronald Gene Skidmore

Ronald Gene “Ronnie” Skidmore age 70 of Clarksville passed away Thursday, September 24, 2009 at his residence. Ronnie was born March 22, 1939 in Clarksville to George M. and Jonell Ragsdill Skidmore. He was married on August 16, 1959 to Joycelyn Bolton Skidmore by Rev. C. Wade Freeman and was the first couple to be married in the present First Baptist Church. Ronnie was an avid golfer, fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. He received his BBA from East Texas State College and was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was retired as Director of Information Management at the Red River Army Depot. Ronnie was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his wife; Joycelyn Bolton Skidmore, one son; Pete and wife Kelly Skidmore of Willow Park, Texas, three grandchildren; Kace Allan, Kayden Jo and Kamron Denise, his mother; Jonell Skidmore, one sister; Donna and husband Richard Sloan of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas and one niece and one nephew. Funeral services are Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Gossett officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Don Townes, Gene Townes, J.P. Harvey, Rader Johnson, Ben Black, Jack Herrington, Michael Humphrey and Heath Harvey. Honorary Pallbearers are Ed Lindeman and the Red River Cup Tournament Team members that include Paul Jones, Jim Adams, W.R. Freeman, Manuel Avila, Harold Oney, Dewey Blank, Charles Dooley, John Nichols, Charlie Smith, Kenneth Jefferies, R.G. Burris, Frank Stubblefield and Larry Van Horne.
