Obituary of Willie H. Goff

Mr. Willie H. Goff of Blossom formerly of Clarksville, passed away Saturday April 3, 2010 at The Heart Hospital in Plano, Texas after a lengthy battle with heart disease. His wife and son were by his side. Mr. Goff was born to William H. Goff and Lucille Smith on July 10, 1947 in Clarksville. He was a former Marine and Vietnam War veteran, and a member of Bagwell Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents William H. Goff and Lucille Smith Goff, brother Billy Dean Miller, and sister Delora Faye Booth. Mr. Goff loved to travel the country with his wife and reminisce with his dear son. He was a successful insurance agent who received the millionaire’s Council award from the Great American Reserve Insurance Company. He was an expert marksman who could cut a playing card in half every time. A lover of music and an avid fisherman, Mr. Goff never met a stranger. Like one of his heroes, John Wayne, he was a memorable character to all who know him. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and a leader in the Boy Scouts of America. Survivors include his wife, Lynda Goff of Blossom, as son, Willie Dowell Goff of Colbert, Ok., nephews Carl Kuhle of Bogata, Clay Booth of Arlington, nieces, Shelia Gable of Paris and Sharon Booth of Clarksville. Services will be @ 2:00 pm Monday April 5, 2010 in Lindeman Chapel at Clarksville Funeral Home with Revs. Karl Bush and James R. Brown officiating. Family Will Receive visitors one hour before the service. Burial will follow in New Shamrock Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers include Rhett Fendley, Jesse Cope, Gary Sykes, James Vaughan, Josh Tribble, and Carl Kuhle. Honorary pallbearers include Bruce Raney, Ken Jenkins, G. L. Galloway, Clay Jean Booth, and Richard Roseberry. Per Mr. Goff’s wishes, family and friends may prefer to send a memorial donation in lieu of flowers to the Texas Crippled Children’s Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
