Obituary of Naomi Stearman
Naomi Stearman, age 84, of Avery, passed away, Thursday, November 08, 2012, at Christus St. Michael’s Hospital in Texarkana.
Mrs. Stearman was born May 20, 1928, to parents Joe and Rosie Gibson Baird of Boxelder. She married Marvin Stearman on August 5, 1946 in De Kalb. After a few years they left Red River County and moved to live in Dallas for many years before returning to their farm in Boxelder in 1968.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Stearman; brothers, Joseph Baird, Buell Baird and Bruce Baird; and sisters, Hazel Easterwood, Buna Spurgeon and Cleo Taylor.
Naomi was a homemaker and known throughout Red River County as a wonderful cook, always ministering to people’s needs by carrying them some of her wonderful, delicious cooking. She served in the Volunteer Auxillary for East Texas Medical Center in Clarksville for over 10 years. Mrs Stearman was a member of Avery Missionary Baptist Church for 42 years serving as a Sundy School Teacher, Choir Member and a member of the Ladies Auxillary.
She was an amazing gardener and seamtress and no one ever left her home without canned goods or some of her frozen vegetables from one of her three well stocked freezers. She loved her family, neighbors and friends, especially spending time playing 42 and skippo. She will be remembered as a giving, loving and caring lady.
Survivors include her son, Larry Stearman and wife, Eileen of Texarkana, Texas; a daughter, Belinda Lum and husband Eric of New Boston; grandchildren, Tracy Triplett and husband Brian of DeKalb, Brandon Lum and wife Kari of DeKalb, Bryan Stearman and Cody Stearman of Texarkana, Texas; a sister, Arvella Davidson and husband Will of McKinney; and a sister-in-law, Ruby Townzen of Dallas; great grandchildren, Ethan Lum, Zane Triplett, Cole Triplett and Gilliam Lum.
Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 11, 2012, at the Avery Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Rod Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Boxelder Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 unti 7:00, Saturday night at Clarksville Funeral Home.
