Obituary of Ann Barnard
Ann Clifton was born September 6, 1925, in Deport, Texas and died October 14, 2012, in Paris, Texas. She was the daughter of Martin and Lena Goad Clifton. When they were divorced when she was two years old, she began living with grandparents, Charley and Annie Clifton of Deport. They moved to Rugby and Bogata where she graduated from Bogata High School in 1942. She was employed by the Fort Worth Quartermaster Depot as a mail clerk. Ann married Sam Barnard from Talco, Texas in 1944.
When World War II ended, Sam was honorably discharged from the United States Navy. They returned to Talco to live on his Mother’s ranch South of Cuthand. A daughter, Pamela, was born in 1947.
Ten years later, they moved to Bogata and became members of the First Methodist Church. Clemmie “Dude” Lassiter retired from the First National Bank in 1953 and Ann was employed there. Mr. Lennox Hudson, Cashier of the bank trained her. When he retired because of bad health, she was elected Cashier and worked for 20 years. Her hobbies were sewing and the computer.
She is survived by Pam and husband James Vaughan of Clarksville, two grandchildren, Christopher Vaughan and wife Michele of Bogata, Jennifer Vaughan and friends Laramie and Channing Allen of Tyler, and two great grandchildrden, Madison and Cason Vaughan.
Graveside services are set for 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at Bogata Cemetery with Rev. Carol Sparks officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
