Obituary of Mattie Lucille Tiffie

Mattie Lucille Martin Tiffie, age 94, of Bogata, passed away June 15, 2012, at her residence. Mrs. Tiffie was born December 6, 1917, in Clarksville to Robert Richard and Margaret Louise Watkins Martin. She married A. C. Tiffie on July 18, 1942 in Clarksville. She was a member of the Bogata Missionary Baptist Church. Mattie loved her family and life to its fullest. She loved canning, quilting, gardening and especially the outdoors, fishing and camping. She worked many jobs all her life including, picking cotton, a cashier, she cooked at a state hospital and worked for a nursing home and paint department in a metal shop. Mattie was preceded in death by her husband; two sets of twins; her parents; her brothers, Lee, Walter, Albert, Lewis, Alfred, Joe and Earl Martin and her sisters Lottie Kilmer and Opal Hovedon. Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2012, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Ross Spencer and Rev. Billy Daniels officiating. Burial will follow in Bogata Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Jerald Pickett, Dean Tiffie, Jr., Christopher Williams, Josh Sowell, Dillon Cortez and Scotty Duckworth. Survivors include her daughter, Virginia Gail Pickett and husband Wayne of Tyler; her son, Harold Dean Tiffie, Sr. and wife Lottie of Bogata; her brother, Bobby Martin of Clarksville; 3 sisters, Maimi and husband Ross Spencer of Lubbock, Pearl and husband Edward Spencer of Bogata and Mary Fritzgerald and husband Jim of Bogata; sisters-in-law, Janie Martin of Bogata and Melba Garmon of Antlers, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Joe Houedon of Lubbock; 5 grandchildren, Lesia Sowell and husband David of Lindale, Jerald Wayne Pickett and wife Pia of Chandler, Virginia Tiffie, Mary Duckworth and husband Scotty, Harold Dean Tiffie, Jr., all of Bogata; 10 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her great companion, her dog Foxy.
