Obituary of Valarie Presley

Valarie Presley, age 89, of Garland, formerly of Avery, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2011, at Winter’s Park Nursing Home, in Garland. Valarie was born on August 16, 1922, in Lydia to Wilson and Hattie Murphy York. She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Presley, who was killed in action during World War II. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Marvin Roden, of Garland; two grandchildren, Rob and wife Michelle Roden and Richard and wife Crystal Roden; two great grandchildren, Henry and Emma Roden; and her sister Iva’s children that she adopted with love: Margie Rust, Roy Phelps and wife Janelle, Jerry Phelps and wife Elizabeth, her grand nieces and nephews: David Rust and wife Sondra, Julie Hitt and husband Jimmy, Susan Dahse and husband Dwayne, Rhonda Phelps, Charlsey Pop and Kim Hastings; many great-grandnieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends. Funeral services are schedulded for 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 18, 2011, at the Avery United Methodist Church with Rev. James Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Avery Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are John Williams, Jr., Ben Kelsoe, Ross Lennon, Don Smith, Jearl McPeak and Don Hall.
