Obituary of Amelia McClinton Smith

Amelia Mae (Mege) McClinton Smith of Cleburne died on November 2, 2011. Mrs. Smith was born on July 17, 1917 in Clarksville, Texas, the daughter of Elmore and Stella Graves McClinton. After graduation from Clarksville High School in 1935, she attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, receiving her Bachelor of Arts Degree. She married Oran Smith, Jr., of Cleburne, in 1949, moving with him to Cleburne, where he practiced law. Mrs. Smith was an avid bridge player and veracious reader and participated in numerous civic activities in Cleburne and Johnson County. She served on the board of the Cleburne Public Library for many years, as well as serving as a volunteer for adult literacy programs, Stephen Ministry and hospice. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 4, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Clarksville, where Mrs. Smith was a lifelong member, with burial following in the Clarksville Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brother, Robert Elmore (Bobby) McClinton.
