Obituary of Inez Stringer

Inez “Memaw” Stringer, age 81, of Clarksville, passed away, Monday, October 31, 2011, at ETMC Clarksville. Mrs. Stringer was born in the Negley Community in Red River County, October 19, 1930 to James Cecil and Zora Viola Sweeden Dryden. She was a member of the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. Inez was well known in and around Red River County for her home-made hot dill pickles and caramel pie. Her pickles brought a crowd each year to the Red River County Fair Auction and contributed to Red River County’s continuing free fair. These recipes were handed down to her daughter, Donna and daughter-in-law, Cassie. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Sonny Boy Stringer; a daughter, Nancy Ann Stringer, a grandson, Marshall Keith Stringer; her sons, Thomas Ray and Randy Stringer; 5 brothers; and 1 sister. Survivors include a son, Bubba and Cassie Stringer of Clarksville; a daughter, Donna and Billy Earl Clark of Clarksville; 2 daughters- in- law, Brenda Rodriguez and spouse, Freddy of Clarksville and Veronica Stringer of Clarksville; 3 sisters, Brenda Sears and Chuck of Atlanta, De Dell Mowery of Clarksville and Mildred Martin of Lehigh Acres, Florida; a brother-in-law, J.A. Pace of New Boston; 3 sisters in law, Auntie Askins of Clarksville, Bernice Dillard of Clarksville and Effie Dryden; grandchildren, Steven Stringer and Kellie, Justin Stringer and Tonya, Shelley Stringer, Stephanie Williams and Blake, and Jennifer Knight; great grandchildren, Dylan, Macie, Kourtnie, Sammy, Lane and Kanyon; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services are set for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 3, 2011, at New Haven Cemetery with Rev. Jonathan Simons and John Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6 to 8 at Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Dylan Stringer, Paul Allen, Kevin Waggoner, Gary Raulston, Sammy Faulkner and Raymond Long. Honorary Pallbearers are Billy Sam Allen, Billy Frank Owens, Bill McGuire, Randy Posey, James Posey, Richard Fryer and Doyle Monkhouse.
