Obituary of Darrell Ward

Darrell “ Budge “ Ward, Sr., age 92, of Clarksville, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at his residence. Mr. Ward was born July 6, 1918, in Atoka, Oklahoma, to Andrew and Maudie Butts Ward. He was retired from the Red River Army Depot and later drove a school bus for Clarksville Independent Schools. He was Past Master at Friendship Lodge #16, A.F & A.M. and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. He married Dorothy Shoffner and she preceded him in death on September 14, 1995. He also was preceded in death by four brothers, one sister and one grandson, Mike Strickland. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2011, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Kellam and Rev. James Brown officiating. Friendship Lodge #16 will conduct Masonic services. Burial will follow in Whitemans Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Russell Ward, Aaron Ward, Bryon Ward, Gary Don Ward, Steve Ward and Dinger Jaynes. Visitation will be Wednesday night from 7 to 8 at Clarksville Funeral Home. Survivors include two sons, Stanley Ward and wife Meckey of Clarksville and Charles Ward and wife Carla of Clarksville; grandchildren, Melissa Whitfield, Russell Ward, Aaron Ward, Tammy Jaynes, Bryon Ward, Gary Don Ward and Steve Ward; twenty-three great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
