Obituary of Pauline Townes

Pauline “Nannie” Townes, age 95, of the Lone Star Community passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011, at her residence. Ms. Townes was born August 20, 1915, in Bogata to Richard Malcom “ Mack” and Jewel Hicks Townes. She was a multi-talented musican and played the piano many years at the Maro Pentecostal Church at Pine Branch. She also played the French harp and mandolin, but her favorite instrument was the fiddle. She loved to read the local paper and especially her Bible. She took her niece and nephew to Sunday School and taught them scriputres for the Band Booster Club. Her life honored the Lord and her elders. She always had a happy smile for all the doctors and caring nurses who looked after her. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Dee, Rubin and Dillon Townes, two sisters, Betty Lou Horton and Hallie Matt Townes, who died two weeks ago to the day. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2011, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Horton officiating. Burial will follow in Bogata Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. The family will receive friends an hour before service time at Clarksville Funeral Home. Survivors include her brother, Earl Townes of the Lone Star Community; four nephews, Ben Townes of the Lone Star Community, Don Horton of Clarksville, Kenneth Horton of Austin and Tim Horton of Rogers, Arkansas; two nieces, Jewel Alice Cox of Humble and Margaret Ann Rhea of Mt. Vernon; several great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Ross Eilers, Jeff Goodman, Jody Street, Randy Rhea, Justin Townes and Harold Rhea. “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” Matthew 5:8.
