Mrs. Harmening was a living example of how we are to live our lives and how teachers should mentor children today. I am proud to have had her as my third grade teacher. It's been 35 years since I was in 3rd grade, but if I close my eyes and concentrate, my mind is flooded with memories of her class, her teaching style, her reading, her compassion and her genuine love for students. In later years, when I saw her, she always had a story to tell about our 3rd grade year. She was a wonderful human being whom I will never forget.
