Obituary of James H. Morrison

James H. Morrison, Jr., age 85, of Avery, passed away Monday, June 6, 2011, at Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana. Mr. Morrison was born March 24, 1926 in Red River County to James H. and Viola Dawson Morrison, Sr. He was a retired mechanic from Red River Army Depot, proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of the American Legion. He was past master of Avery Masonic Lodge #921 and a Scottish Rite Mason. He married Inez Thompson in New Boston on September 3, 1947. He was a member of the Avery United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by an infant sister and grandson. Funeral services are set for 10:30 a.m., Friday June 10, 2011, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Gary McCain officiating. Avery Masonic Lodge #921 will conduct Masonic graveside services. Burial will follow in English Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6 to 8 at Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Robby Trimm, B.J. Broomfield, Duel Grigg, David Grigg, James Bain and Anderson "Doll" Fox. Survivors include his wife Inez of the home; two sons, James T. Heath and wife Carol of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and James Michael Morrison and wife Daphene of New Boston; two daughters, Patsy Morrison of Dekalb and Janell Whiteman and husband Bill of Greenville; three grandchildren, Molly Wade, Laura Todd and Jason Stotts; 3 great grandchildren, Cody and Kelly Wade and Madison Stotts; a sister- in-law, Maurice McLain and other family and friends. Memorials may be made in Mr. Morrison’s name to the Avery United Methodist Church at 309 W. Alabama St., Avery, Texas, 75554.
