Her family was devotedly active in the First Baptist Church of Center Point, where her father was a long-time deacon. After she graduated Center Point High School, she attended Southwest Texas Teachers College in San Marcos. In 1960, she married the love of her life, Glen Floyd of Boxelder, Texas. The wedding ceremony was officiated by Glen’s father, Chester Dow Floyd, and was held at the First Baptist Church of Center Point. The couple moved to Colleyville, Texas in 1962, where they raised their two daughters and resided there until 1992. Once retired, they moved to Boxelder, Texas. Prior to this move, they had built their country home on the Floyd family farm and were happy to be moving to the country. Together they enjoyed beautiful country days together, working in the garden and being involved with their community. Janis was a member of the Red Hatters Club, known as the “Yak Yak Honey’s” and enjoyed great times with her friends. She served for 10 years as Secretary/Treasurer of the Boxelder Fire Department and also volunteered in the Ladies Auxiliary at ETMC Clarksville. Janis was proud of her family, especially her wonderful granddaughters, Maggie and Jordan, with whom she loved spending as much time as possible. This sweet lady will be missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to know her. She never met a stranger. She will always be remembered for her charm, elegance and grace.
