Obituary of Alvie L. Markham

Alvie L. Markham of Avery passed away Sunday, May 31, 2009, at Paris Regional Medical Center. Mr. Markham was born in the Pine Springs Community of Bowie County on December 19, 1922, to Charlie and Mary Dunson Markham. He was a longtime member of the Avery Church of Christ and served in the Air Force during WWII. Four brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. In 1946 he married Ruth McCain in New Boston, she survives him along with two sons, Larry Markham of Avery and Dennis Markham of Texarkana; a sister, Lottie Nicks of Nebraska; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at the Avery Church of Christ with David Ingram, Jack Dodson and Dale Stinson officiating. Burial will follow in Avery Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Douglas Gortney, Larry Mooree, Larry Hocutt, James Johnson, Bill Tribby and Tommy Landers. Honorary Pallbearers are Charles Godwin, Gerald and Wayne Holder, Lane Duncan, Craig Loe, John Edd Garrett, Terry Wilburn and Robert Moreland.
