Obituary of Ralph Eugene Meals

Ralph Eugene Meals, age 85, of Annona, died Monday, January 3, 2011, at Reunion Nursing Center in Texarkana. Mr. Meals was born July 13, 1925 in Swansville, Texas to Alvan and Pearl Caviness Meals. He was the Owner and Operator of Ralph E. Meals Lumber Sales in Annona. He was a member of the Annona United Methodist Church. He was a former Red River County Republican Chairman, a long time member of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and served in the U.S. Navy while stationed in Hawaii. He married Alma Lee Comer Meals on April 16, 1947 in Annona. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lee Ann Meals. He is survived by one daughter, Denise Wright and husband Harrison of Texarkana; one brother, James Stanley Meals and wife Mary Ann of Katy; grandchildren, Lynlee Harvey and husband Steven and Jordan James and husband Mitch all of Texarkana; two great grandchildren, Ava Harvey and Brown Harvey. Graveside services are set for 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011, at Russell Cemetery in Annona with Reverend Don C. “Dink” Benton officiating. Services are under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Paul Allen, Paul “Bear” Bryant, Bill Daniel, Bob Edrington, Rickey Meals, Jimmy Peek, Bradley Butts and Jeff Schrader.
