Obituary of Ruby Tucker

Ruby Joyce Humphrey Tucker, age 76 of Clarksville, left this world to be with her Heavenly Father on Easter Sunday, April 21st, 2019.  She passed peacefully at the home of her daughter in Texarkana, where she was under the loving care of Heritage Home Health and Hospice.

Ruby, a follower of Christ and a charter member of Temple Baptist Church, served in many capacities through out the past forty years, including, working with the youth, teaching Sunday school, and serving as the church secretary.

Ruby was well known all over Clarksville and Red River county.  She enjoyed getting to know people wherever  she was, whether it was waitressing at the Alps Cafe, Top Drive In, or Ye Ole Smokehouse, cooking chicken at the Korner store, delivering the Paris News, or selling Avon, Ruby loved working hard and loving people. During her 30 plus years of selling Avon, she received many awards for highest sales.  After retiring from selling Avon, she delivered meals on wheels, and volunteered at the Regency Nursing Center.

Before becoming ill, she enjoyed attending her grand daughter’s school events, working in the yard planting flowers, and spending time with her beloved cat, Buttercup.

Ruby loved BIG!  She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and Memaw.  She loved as Christ loves, unconditionally.

Ruby was born on March 7, 1943 to Lucian, and Viva Humphrey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 30 years Ray Tucker, one Grandson Justin Luke Stansbury; Brothers and sisters in law Earl and Joyce Humphrey, and Donald and Bobbie Humprhey; Sisters in law Clara Humphrey, and Ann Hackler, Brothers in law Eddie Slaton, Gene Tucker, and Leo Tucker.

She is survived by her only daughter and son in law, Paula and Chad Stansbury,  one granddaughter Amelia Rae Stansbury all of Wake Village, TX; 1 sister Charline Slaton of Bogata, TX; Brothers and Sisters in Law Monte and Jo Humphrey of Tyler, TX;  Glen and Ginger Humphrey of Paris, TX; Jimmie Ruth Tucker of Joshua, TX; and Vivian Ballew of Troup, TX.  Many nieces and nephews, and life long friends at Temple Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends one hour before service time at Clarksville Funeral Home.

Funeral Services are set for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2019, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Lucas Fields and Rev. Brandon Bell officiating.  Burial will follow in Lone Star Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
