Obituary of Ruth Wright Hurt

Ruth Wright Hurt, age 88, of Clarksville, passed away, Sunday, March 24, 2019, at Focused Care Nursing Center.  She was born, January 24, 1931, in the town of Bessmay in Jasper County to Leslie O. and Cora Bell Campbell Wright.  Ruth graduated from Clarksville High School in 1948 and married Jimmy Hurt on November 14, 1948.  She worked with Mr. Hurt at the family owned Clarksville Times and later at Jimmy Hurt Finance Company.  Ruth was a member of McKenzie Memorial United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir for many years.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and nine brothers and sisters.

Graveside services are set for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Colgrove officiating.  Burial is under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.

There will be no formal visitation.

Survivors include her son, Boyd Hurt and wife, Teela of Clarksville; her daughter, Beth Wilburn and husband, Roy of Galveston; two grandchildren, Julie Davidson and husband, Gary and Terry Lester and wife, Laura; four great grandchildren, Jarod Davidson and wife, Dayna, Wesley Davidson and girlfriend, Codi Denman, Conner Lester and Marlee Lester.
