Obituary of Mary Tiffie Duckworth

Mary Lucille Tiffie Duckworth, age 49, of Bogata, passed away, Friday, March 8, 2019, at her residence.  Mary was born, June 5, 1969, in Terrell the daughter of Harold Dean and Lottie Land Tiffie, Sr.  She was a 1987 graduate of Rivercrest High School and a member of the Bogata Missionary Baptist Church.  After high school she moved to Terrell and was employed as a cake decorator at Kroger’s Grocery Store and also worked on a horse ranch in Rockwall.  After moving back to Bogata she became a waitress at the 909 Diner.  In her later years, she took care of mowing and the upkeep of the Cuthand Cemetery.  Mary grew up being her Daddy’s “Tomboy”.  Whatever she did, it had to be done right. She was a caring person to all people.  Mary was a great cook.  She was known for her homemade pies and took pride in making every family member their birthday cake.  Even after she was sick, she kept doing what she had always done, caring and helping other people.  Mary loved her family dearly, but her heart was her son, husband and grandchildren.  God came first, then family.  She had a saying, God won’t put more on you than you can handle.  Mary was a happy person and always tried to make everyone else happy.  Her grandparents; A.C. and Mattie Tiffie; grandmother, Lona Reed; grandfather, George McCrary; and mother-in-law, Jean Williams, all preceded her in death. Mary will be missed by all.

Survivors include her husband, Scottie Duckworth; of Bogata; son, Dillon Cortez of Bogata; step-daughter, Karlee Swanner and husband, Maxton; grandchildren, Salem Cortez, Koen Razo and Maxwell and Madeline Swanner; parents, Dean and Lottie Tiffie of Bogata; sister, Virginia Tiffie and Emmitt of Bogata; brother, Harold Dean Tiffie, Jr.; nieces and nephews, Garrett Tiffie, Bailey Tiffie, Asa Tiffie, Reese Tiffie, Lauren Frazier and Bailey Sutfin; father and mother-in-law, Jessie and Loretta Duckworth; and a sister-in-law, Amanda Werline and husband, Shannon.

Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 13, 2019, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Wade White and Rev. Billy Daniels officiating.  Burial will follow in Bogata Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
