Obituary of Juanita Gloria Bettes

Gloria Bettes, age 90, of Clarksville, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Focused Care of Clarksville.

Gloria was born December 11, 1927, in Hale Center, Texas to John and Norma Lusby Smith.   Mrs. Bettes was retired from the Clarksville Independent School District where she worked in the Administration Office.  She loved cats and was a member of the Red River County Humane Society.  Mrs. Bettes also was a member of the Red River General Hospital's Ladies Auxiliary and an active member of McKenzie Memorial United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Craigo “Bill” Bettes and her parents, John Smith and Norma Morris; and step-parent, Coy Morris.

The family will receive friends Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Clarksville Funeral Home.

Funeral services are set for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018, at McKenzie United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Colgrove officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.

Survivors include 2 sons, Bill C. Bettes, Jr. of Greenville and Dr. Thomas Bettes and wife, Darlene of Grapevine; 1 daughter, Betty Lou Dietel and husband Rick of Weston; 1 granddaughter, Brandy Lee and husband, J.D.; 3 step-grandchildren, Amber and husband, Robert, Scott and wife, Tricia and Danielle; several great grandchildren; her sibilings, Jean Brown, Joyce Lawing, Bill Morris and wife, Oleta, Max Morris and wife, Jodie and Shirley Stroebele and husband, Don Foster; and a former daughter-in-law, Debbie Kuhn.
