Obituary of Clara Meredith

Clara Meredith of Clarksville, TX went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 10, 2016. She was born on August 29, 1929 to Charles and Velia Monkhouse. She was a graduate of Clarksville High School. In 1955, Clara married her husband, Norman, and they were married for 37 years. Clara was a devout member of College Avenue Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Norman Elmer Meredith; father, Charles Monkhouse; mother, Velia Monkhouse; brother Clarence Monkhouse, and sister, Esther Shirley. Survivors include her sister, Margaret Ervin of Clarksville, Texas; two sons, Mike Meredith (Leaurme) of Longview, Texas, and Roger Meredith (Margaret) of Greenbrier, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Nicole Taylor (Jason), Amber Saunders (Jonathan), Jana Jackson (Troy), Andrew Meredith (Brittany), Rachel Meredith, and Robert Meredith; two step-grandchildren, Amanda Haldeman (Charles) and Daniel Black (Brooke); seven great-grandchildren, Gavin, Coltin, Quintin, Kaitlyn, Christian, Karly, Chasey; seven step great grandchildren, Hattie, Riley, Robb, Will, Emerson, Ava, and Kyler; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Clara will fondly be remembered by family and friends as a Godly woman, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and be remembered by her love for her garden, cooking and sewing. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 10-11 a.m. at Clarksville Funeral Home, located at 100 W College Ave, Clarksville, TX 75426. Burial will be held Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 11-12 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, located at Fairview Cemetery, Clarksville, TX 75426. Celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 12-1 p.m. at Clarksville First Baptist Church, located at 1501 Old US Hwy 80, Clarksville, TX 75426. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to Hope Community Church at 1105 Lake Drive, Longview TX 75601 or Wooster First Baptist Church at P.O. Box 218 Wooster, AR 72181.
