Bettye Kay, I was so sorry to hear of Byron's passing last week. Many of us retirees have many fond memories of Byron with the common thread being what a kind, soft-spoken man he was. Having worked with Byron my first year at MFD was one of the highlights of career. He was an excellent captain and a good friend to the 'newbie'. I am so happy I got to visit with Byron and yourself in June and regret that I didn't get to talk with Byron afterwards. On behalf of all Midland's retired firefighters, please accept our deepest and most heartfelt condolences. We will keep you and your respective families in our thoughts and prayers. If we can ever be of any help to you or your family, we would be happy to do whatever we can.

Byron was the most caring and loving people I have ever met. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him. I feel truly blessed to have had him as a brother-in-law and a Christian Brother.
