Obituary of Sibyl Hedgecock Miller
Sibyl Hedgecock Miller of Avery died on July 13, 2015 at the age of 68. She was born December 8, 1946 at the Clarksville Hospital and was raised in Avery. Sibyl Miller is the daughter of the late Malcolm Joe Hedgecock and Beulah Ora Medford and the granddaughter of the late Brose Phillip Medford and Sibyl Exar Campbell all of Avery. She is a fifth generation of seven generations born to Like Rupert Medford of Red River County.
She graduated from Avery High School in 1965 and from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1969. She returned to Avery in 1980 with her son and was employed as a Mental Health Case Manager for 20 years with the MHMR Center and the University of Texas Medical Branch at the Telford Unit of the TCCJ. She retired in 2012. She was a lifelong member of the Avery United Methodist church and a member of The Order of the Eastern Star, Avery Chapter #252.
She is survived by a son, Phillip Elijah Miller of Dallas, a brother Joe Medford Hedgecock and wife Carolyn of Bedford Texas, nephews Blake Medford Hedgecock of Fort Worth, Phillip Coleman Hedgecock of Rowlett Texas and nieces Cariann Hedgecock Cantrell of Ben Wheeler, Texas and Lauren Leeann Miller of Richardson, Texas, cousins Rosemary Michie Witmer and Byron of Argyle Texas, Charles David Michie and Laura of Carrollton, Lewis Grey Harris and Marianne of Nashville Tennessee and Jack Medford Harris of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the Avery United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jack Cloyd will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends an hour before service time at the church.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Avery Cemetery Fund or to The Order of the Eastern Star, Avery Chapter #252 c/o Carolyn Kimbriel.
