Obituary of Daphne G. Arnold
Daphne Gordon Arnold, age 98, of Clarksville, passed away April 27, 2015, at Clarksville Nursing Center. Daphne was born August 12, 1916, in Acworth, Texas, the first born child of Jack David Parks and Nancy Carolyn Carter Parks. She graduated from Clarksville High School in 1934 and married J. T. Arnold on January 3, 1937, in Clarksville, Texas. She worked as a retail salesperson for several years in a ladies’ apparel shop, and was an excellent homemaker. She loved people, her family, and her church. She was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Clarksville, where she was a member of the Worthwhile Class, and served as a Deacon. She spent the last eight years of her life at Clarksville Nursing Center, where she made many friends and faced her adversity with bravery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and two brothers, Jack Parks and Claude Parks.
Daphne is survived by her two children, daughter, Nancy Nichols and husband, John, of Clarksville, Texas, and her son Jack L. Arnold and wife, Diann, of San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived by five grandchildren, James Nichols and wife, Karen, of Longview, Texas; Jeff Nichols and wife, Paula, of Paris, Texas; Lara Nunez and husband, Robert, of Bee Cave, Texas; Rebecca Siddons of Spicewood, Texas; J. D. Arnold and wife, Jenni, of Corpus Christi, Texas. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren, Tyler, Logan, Mabry, Ansley and Emmaline Nichols of Longview, Texas, Jonathan Nichols and Jack Nichols of Paris, Texas, Cole Siddons and Zachery Siddons of Spicewood, Texas, and Ashley Nunez of Bee Cave, Texas. Also surviving are two sisters, Mary Scaff of Gardendale, Texas, and Hazel Kelty and husband, Jimmy, of Clarksville, Texas, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 30, 2015, at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ed Dodson officiating. Burial will follow in Stones Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are James Nichols, Jeff Nichols, Jack Nichols, J. D. Arnold, Dickie Grant, and Tim Kelty.
Special thanks go to Dr. B.C. Muthappa, the staff at Clarksville Nursing Center, and Serenity Hospice for the loving care they provided.
