Obituary of Bill Williams
B.D. “Bill” Williams, age 86, of Clarksville, passed away, Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at his home. Bill lived his passion and was a Professional Rodeo Cowboy. He began his Rodeo career in 1943. He received his RCA card in 1945 and even judged the National Finals Rodeo in 1963, 64 and 65. Bill was a spokesman for the RCA and was on the stock selection committee. He served in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean War. Bill married Geneva Whiteman on April 25, 1953 and was a member of the First Christian Church. Later in years, he loved watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and was an avid Rangers, Cowboys and Mavericks fan. He also was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping and crappie fishing at Hugo Lake. Bill was preceded in death by his wife; and 4 brothers.
Funeral services are set for 1:30 p.m., Friday, March 27, 2015, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Pastor John Burton officiating. A private family graveside will follow in Madras Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends an hour before service time at Clarksville Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Bruce Emery, Sammy Andrews, Larry Napier, Ronnie Williams, Randy Williams, Carl Nafzger, Bob Christophersen,Ernest Witmer and Buddy Parker.
Survivors include a son, Chuck Williams and wife, Angela of Paris, a daughter, Renee Harvey and fiancé, Rusty Lowe of Paris; grandchildren, Brittney Keys and husband, Brandon of Paris, Matthew Williams of Paris, Kaci Williams of Paris and Chris Harvey of Clarksville; 1 sister, Mary Lynn Smyrl of Huntington; and 1 brother, Shirley Williams of Azel.
Memorials may be made in Mr. William’s name to the Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame; Historic Cowtown Coliseum 121 E. Exchange Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76140 or the Children’s Advocacy Center, 711 Pine Bluff St., Paris, Texas 75460.
