Obituary of Sonja Sue Poteet

Sonja Poteet, age 52, of Clarksville, passed away, Friday, January 02, 2015, at her residence. Sonja was born November 8, 1962, in Clarksville to R.L. and Linda Metts Poteet. She was a 1981 graduate of Clarksville High School where she participated in band and was a majorette. She graduated from Texarkana College with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Drug and Alcohol Abuse Counseling. Sonja also owned Clean Castle House Keeping and loved all the people she worked for. She was of the Presbyterian faith. Her father; grandparents, Pete and Bonnie Metts and Lillie Poteet; along with her uncles, Ralph Poteet and Ardie Barnes preceded her in death. Funeral services for Sonja will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 5, 2015, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. James Brown and Rev. Cindy Baker Burnett officiating. Burial will follow in Whiteman’s Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Olen Douglas, Matthew Kelsoe, Kel Kelsoe, Steve Raulston, Darrell Dickerson and Damien Carrasco. Honorary Pallbearers are Jack Holt, Jonathan Peacock, Gary Porterfield, Colby Steel, Matt Schroeder, Daniel Walsh and Charles Malone. The family will receive friends an hour before service time at Clarksville Funeral Home. Survivors include her mother, Linda Poteet of Clarksville; 1 sister, Sherry Poteet of Gilmer; 4 aunts, Shirley Barnes, Betty Kelsoe, Brinda Poteet and Kim Poteet; 5 cousins, Melissa Boothe, Monica Raulston, Jonathan Peacock, Matthew Kelsoe and Taylor Poteet; and very special friends, Darrell, Wanda Faye and Monique Dickerson.
