Obituary of Billy Ray Hines
Billy Ray Hines, age 83, of Clarksville, passed away, Monday, December 01, 2014, at Clarksville Nursing Center. Billy Ray was born September 7, 1931, in the Cuthand Community of Red River County to Garland Andrew and Rachel Broomfield Hines, Sr. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Eulavee McGee Hines; his parents; his step-mother, Martha Jane Hines; his son, Bruce Arnold Hines; his brothers, Ernest Kilmer, Kenneth Hines and David Gene Hines; and his sister, Lorene Hines. Billy Ray founded K&B Steel in Clarksville in the late 1970’s and retired in 1994. After retirement he enjoyed life to the fullest, with his grandchildren being his top priority. Mr. Hines served on the Board of Directors of the Lamar Elect-Coop for 10 years. Some of his hobbies included beekeeping, gardening, fishing and he was an avid bicyclist. Billy Ray built his own Ultra Light aircraft which he loved to fly around Red River County. He also served in the National Guard and was a member of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral services are set for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 4, 2014, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. James Brown officiating.
The family will receive friends an hour before service at the funeral home.
Honorary Pallbearers are Joe DePriest, David Phelps, Bill Hill, Mickey Hayes, Alan Branch and the late Charles Dooley.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce of Clarksville; his sons, Paul Hines and wife, Tami of Clarksville and Jeff Hines of Gresham, Oregon; his daughters, Kathryn Quillin and husband, Tom of Red Oak and Karen Pittman and husband, Jamie of Blossom; his sisters, Madge Harris and husband, Jerry of Clarksville and Irene Hines of Clarksville; his brothers, Bobby Hines and wife, Pansy of Clarksville, Doug Hines and wife, Joan of Idabel, Oklahoma and G.A. Hines and wife Corene of Clarksville; his 8 grandchildren, Heather Freeman, Sara Shaw, Molly Pylant, Zach Hines, Vivian Hines, Charlie Hines, Skylar Hines and Gage Hines; and 3 great-grandchildren, Madison and Chase Freeman and Lyla Lemley.
