Obituary of Hubbard B McDuffie
Hubbard Bayrd McDuffie, age 93, of Annona, passed away, Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Reunion Plaza Senior Care & Rehab Center in Texarkana. Mr. McDuffie was born November 8, 1920, in Bivens, to Hubbard and Janie Maud Lanier McDuffie, Sr. He graduated from Annona High School, was an avid basketball player and refereed basketball games in the area for many years. Hubbard last played basketball on his 90th birthday. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Flight Engineer during WWII. Mr. McDuffie retired from the Red River Army Depot and was currently serving on the Red River Federal Credit Union Board of Trustees. Hubbard was a member of the Aikin Grove Missionary Baptist Church. One of Hubbard’s “things” was to pass out suckers to all of the children he came across. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 25, 2014, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. James Brown and Rev. Jimmie Woodard officiating. Graveside services and burial will follow at 2:00 p.m., at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens in Nash, Texas. Services are under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends following the service at Clarksville Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Bobby Buck, Harrison Wright, Stan Brummal, Doug Norton, Sammie Murdock and Alvin Jackson.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years Doris Rae Geary McDuffie of Annona; a daughter, Sherry Pate of Queen City; and a sister, Betty Wilson of Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
