Obituary of Douglas Ray Cobb

Ray Douglas “Doug” Cobb, age 77, of Avery, passed away, Sunday, July 20, 2014, at his residence. Mr. Cobb was born September 30, 1936, in Dallas to Oda Richard and Nona Mitchell Cobb. He married Sue Kelley on June 3, 1977, in Talco. Doug was an avid fisherman and loved his family very much. He was preceded in death by a brother, Oda Raymond Cobb. Mr. Cobb worked in Dallas and later retired from Red River County. Funeral services are set for 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 23, at the Avery Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Roddy Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Avery Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Tilmon Deaton, Elmer Caton, Mark Megason, Cliff Proctor, Kent Skeen and Darren Coil. Honorary Pallbearers are Kevin Downs and James Cheyne. Survivors include his wife, Sue Kelley Cobb of Avery; one son, Rickie Cobb of Bossier City, Louisiana; four daughters, Linda Langston of Powderly, Diane Roberson of Covington, Darlene Soltonia of Grandbury and Debra Shelton of Alvarado; two sisters, Linda Jane Jennings and husband, Billy of Avery and Charlene Bosher of the English Community; one grandson, Joshua Langston; and one great-grandson, Jacob Langston.
