Obituary of Dewey Von Knight
Dewey Von Knight, age 77, of Clarksville, passed away, Friday, June 13, 2014, at his residence. Dewey was born October 30, 1936, in Hackley, Louisiana, to Dewey Lee and Fannie Lee Whitehead Knight. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Edward Knight. Mr. Knight was very active member at the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. He served as a Deacon, was in the choir and taught the Adult Sunday School Class. Dewey retired from Weyerhaeuser Industries in Valliant, Oklahoma in 2001. This gave him more time to enjoy his past time which was fishing, fishing and more fishing. He enjoyed watching the Dallas Mavericks, the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys and the Oklahoma City Thunder just to name a few. He loved his family, his church, he never met and stranger and always had a joke for you.
Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 16, 2014, at the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. James Brown and Rev. James Hinkle officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Smith Knight of the home; two sons, Steven Knight of Amarillo and Scott Knight and wife, Wendy of Hugo, Oklahoma; one daughter, Pamela Penny and husband, Wayne of Clarksville; one sister, Faye Pigott of South Dakota; his grandchildren, Jennifer Knight, Shea Penny, Devan Penny, Cody Knight, Ryen Knight and Casen Knight; one great-grandson, Easton Tucker; his nephews, Tommy Smotherman and Calvin Smotherman; and one niece, Lee Smotherman.
