Obituary of Jimmy Hurt

Jimmy Hurt, age 85 of Clarksville, passed away, Friday, June 6, 2014, at Clarksville Nursing Center. Mr. Hurt was born November 9, 1928, in Paris, to Reagan and Mattie Lou Dickson Hurt. He graduated from Paris High School in 1946 and was a member of the East Side Church of Christ. Mr. Hurt was General Manager and later Publisher of The Clarksville Times from 1947 to 1977. He then owned and operated Jimmy Hurt Finance Company. Mr. Hurt married Ruth Wright on November 14, 1948, in Clarksville. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Reagan Hurt, Jr. Private family services were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 09, 2014, at Clarksville Funeral Home with Jarod Davidson officiating. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Jarod Davidson, Wesley Davidson, Gary Davidson, Terry Lester and Roy Wilburn. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Hurt of Clarksville; one son, Boyd Hurt and wife Teela of Clarksville; one daughter, Beth Wilburn and husband, Roy of Caddo, Mills; two grandchildren, Julie Davidson and husband, Gary of Clarksville and Terry Lester and wife, Laura of Houston; four great-grandchildren, Jarod and Wesley Davidson and Conner and Marlee Lester; one sister, Lou Ann Madison and husband, Ed of Tyler; and a brother, Steve Hurt and wife, Betty of San Antonio.
