Obituary of Richard Wayne Smith
.Richard Smith, age 47, of the Lone Star Community, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Paris Regional Medical Center. Richard loved working with kids. He coached softball, pee-wee football and was involved in the Red River County 4H Shooting Sports and the Red River County 4H Show Team. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a loving husband and father. Richard was born February 14, 1967, in Lockheart and attended McKenzie Memorial United Methodist Church. He married Michelle Bryson on August 8, 1996, in Bogata.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 24, 2014, at McKenzie Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Colgrove officiating. Burial will follow in Bogata Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends an hour before service time at the church.
Pallbearers are Keith Anthony, Mack Reed, Justin Roach, Dan Tabb, Rockie Tippit and James Woods.
Honorary Pallbearers are Eddie Phillips, Coby Lacy, Michael Fletcher, Ike Roach and Danny Tabb.
Survivors include his wife, Michelle Smith of the Lone Star Community; two sons, Stanley Smith of Sacramento, California and Morgan Smith of the Lone Star Community; two daughters, Latrel Smith of Paris and Jessie Smith of the Lone Star Community; his parents, Harry and Nila Smith of Austin, Boyce and Margaret Smith of Naples and Lois and Butch Whyatt of Naples; three sisters, Carol Ann Lewis of Kansas City, Kansas, Rita Crocker of Naples, and Penny Fagan of Naples; and two brothers, Richie Souther of Frisco and Buddy Smith of Naples.
Memorials may be made to the McKenzie Memorial United Methodist Church, 1809 S. Donoho, Clarksville, Texas 75426, or the Red River County 4H Shooting Club, C/O The Red River County Extension office 402 N. Cedar, Clarksville, Texas 75426.
