Obituary of Bill J. Terry

Bill J. Terry, 88, of the White Rock Community of Red River County, died at 3:22a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Clarksville Nursing Center. He was born July 23, 1925 to Mark Peter “Pete” and Virginia Hendriex Terry both deceased. He was married in 1948 to Bina Faye Hasse Terry (of Saginaw, Michigan) until death they did part which occurred in February 2000. Survivors are his son Mark A. Terry of Irving; two grandsons, Aaron Christopher Terry of Irving, and Jarrett Denson Terry of Canyon Lake, Texas; and two great- granddaughters, Vivian Elena Terry and Lily Jay Terry. He was graduated from Clarksville High School on May 31, 2002. Actually he was scheduled for an earlier date of June 1, 1942, but he was serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the McKenzie Memorial United Methodist Church. Bill, lovingly called Boppy by his grandsons, was a long time resident of Irving before retiring from 26 years at Bristol Myers as a “drug pusher” as he used to like to say. He loved his family, made a mean steak sauce, enjoyed dancing, playing bingo and telling a good joke. He returned to White Rock to his family ranch, established in 1839, to enjoy his birthplace, which he eventually purchased, and the cattle and his friends. He also loved Pecan Pie! Services are set for 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 14, 2014, in Lindeman Chapel with Rev. Jerry Colgrove officiating. Burial will follow in White Rock Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill’s two grandsons, Aaron Terry and Jarrett Terry; and friend Dan Reed. The family requests those choosing to commemorate Bill’s wonderful life perform one act of kindness for someone else.
