Obituary of George Calvin Bridges

George Calvin Bridges, age 86, of Blossom, Texas, died Friday, September, 4, 2009, in Clarksville Nursing Center. Mr. Bridges was born in Johntown, Texas, on February 19, 1923, to John and Mary Woods Bridges, the baby of 10 children. He married Jimmie Marie Roberts on October 21, 1942 in Clarksville. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife on March 13, 2007, Brothers, Robert, Hardie, Harvey, Harry, Harley, Sisters, Vada, Elizabeth, Lorine, Doris, and infant Nadane, half sisters and brother, Maude, Annie, and Willie. Survivors include his daughter and son in law, Pat and James Henry Graham of Blossom, Grandson, James Calvin and wife Beverly Graham of Blossom, Great grandchildren, Jessica Megan Graham, Kalee Jade Graham, Levi Conner Graham, Step grand- Child, Ashley and husband Darreck Young, Step Great Grandchild, Darreck Chanlor, sisters in law, Beatrice Morgan, Maxine Bridges and several nieces and nephews. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII in the islands and was very proud of his country. He would have volunteered again at his age if it was necessary. He lived it every day of his life. His family and his country were his life. Never a negative word about either and his thoughts were God would take care of everything. Graveside funeral services are 3 p.m. Monday, September 7, 2009, at Detroit Cemetery with Rev. Michael Toplif, officiating. Services are under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the George Elliott Watson Library, Blossom, Texas.
