Obituary of Dorothy Favors Power
On January 13, 2014, the Heavens opened up for joy to welcome another Angel as Dorothy Favors Power went to be with the Lord and joined her mother; Lottie Favors; her father, Algie Favors and two daughters, Leslie Nix and Terrie Champagne. Dorothy’s love and spirit will live on through her husband, Jim Power of Clarksville; her daughter, Victoria Powell of Fort Worth; five grandchildren, Todd Powell of Colleyville, Alisha Rhoades of Reno, Brandon Nix of Tyler, Ashlyn Petty of Reno and Joshua Champagne of New Orleans, Louisiana and seven great-grandchildren. Dorothy was devoted to her lifelong husband for sixty-five years as he to her. She was also a wonderful loving mother, mammaw and friend. Dorothy was active in the business community throughout most of her life most recently in the real estate rental business in Clarksville. She also enjoyed working as a Woodman of the World Insurance Agent for Manpower, helping people improve their lives through getting a job. She also worked for city management event planning and promotion and numerous other positions throughout her life. Some of her most fulfilling years were spent as a dedicated CASA case worker and child advocate while working to help endure the safety and well being of children. She and her husband Jim have always loved helping other people and giving back to make the community a better place. She has always been a woman of strong character and great faith. Dorothy Favors Power was born in Roxton, May 27, 1930. She graduated from Paris High School and married Jim Power on July 17, 1948.
Graveside services are set for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Union Grove Cemetery in Reno with Jack Holt officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the First Baptist Church of Clarksville.
Honorary Pallbearers are Bob Powell, Todd Powell, David Nix, Brandon Nix, Cade Petty, Sean Rhodes and Joshua Champagne.
