Obituary of Betty Sue Duren

Betty Melton Duren, age 77, of Clarksville, passed away Monday, December 23, 2013, at East Texas Medical Center. Betty was born July 20, 1936 in Red River County, Texas to Van Dyke and Lura Mae Wilson Melton. She was a member of Aikin Grove Baptist Church where she served as organist and pianist for many years. She was proceeded in death by her parents; 1 brother, George Melton; and five sisters; Dorothy Farmer, Evelyn Westbrook, Kathryn Aldridge and Virginia Mauldin. Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 26, 2013, at Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. James Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Aikin Grove Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Bobby Brown, Rick Bachman, G.A. Hines, Mike McGuire, Johnny Drew and Brandon Nix. Survivors include her husband, Millard A. “Buddy” Duren of Clarksville; one daughter, Lisa Peek and Husband Clay of Annona; one son, Brad Duren of Dallas; 2 grandchildren, Jeff Harvey and Lauren Peek; 2 great grandchildren, Breanna and Leland Harvey and a sister, Eula Sawyer of Orange.
