Obituary of Ruby A. Whitehouse

Ruby Alene “Buddy” Cagle Whitehouse, born September 8, 1914, in Reisel,Texas, passed away on December 3, 2013, in Clarksville, Texas. She was preceded in death in 1972 by her husband Harry Whitehouse from Akron, Ohio and her father and mother, Oscar Lamascar Cagle and Mattie Gwendola Bettis Cagle. She is the last survivor of a family of eight children raised in Bagwell, Texas. Those siblings who preceded her in death are Bessie Thelma Cagle Denton, Vida Mae Cagle Bowden, James Lamascar Cagle, Hildred Lee Cagle, Will Edd Cagle, Betty Jo Cagle Hobbs, and Martha Gwen Cagle Bonner. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Marianne Whitehouse of Clarksville; four grandchildren, Emily Louise Whitehouse and her husband Capt. Mike Smith of Honolulu, Hawaii, Andrew Mark Whitehouse and wife Amy of Texarkana, Texas, Sarah Elaine Whitehouse of Houston, Texas, and Lara Alene Whitehouse of Dallas, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, David Adam Whitehouse of Honolulu, Hawaii and Ian Mark Whitehouse of Texarkana Texas. The extended family of nieces, nephews and their families gathered seventy-six strong with several unable to attend to celebrate Thanksgiving. Her family lovingly called her Buddy—her grandmother moniker given to her by great nephew Wyatt Bowden. Her wonderful life of 99 years has been a life of service and love: Service to her Lord who she served in the Church of Christ for more than 90 years. She donated five acres for the Clarksville Church of Christ to build their present building in 1978; She served her community as she worked tirelessly with her husband in the well-known general store that they co-owned, The Hub, After his death, she continued in that co-ownership until the store closed in 1995. She was eighty-one years old. Her most dedicated service and love was shown to her family. Her heart and her home were always open to any and all who needed to be there or who simply wanted to be there. Her golden years were spent pouring out her love on her son and his family. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 5, 2013, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Patrick Cannon officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:30, Wednesday night at Clarksville Funeral Home.
