Obituary of Elaine Ward Townes

Elaine Ward Townes, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, age 58, of Clarksville, passed away, Friday, February 1, 2013, at her residence. Elaine was the Rural Mail Carrier for the Bogata area. She was born December 10, 1954, in Clarksville to Grady “Bud” and Aliene Lawler Ward. She graduated from Clarksville High School in 1973 and married Gerald Townes on October 26, 1973. Elaine was an avid outdoorswoman, she enjoyed hunting, fishing and helping her family take care of their cattle and attended the Boxelder United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and survived by her husband, Gerald Townes of Clarksville; 2 sons, Michael Townes and wife Kristi of Paris and Charlie Townes and wife Timberley of Clarksville; 4 grandchildren, Breezy Townes, Carter Townes, Sierra Hurley and Pecos Hurley; 1 brother, Grady Ward of Macon, Georgia; 3 nieces, Kelley Townes, Laura Hall and Cheryl Jordan; 1 nephew, Gary Townes, Jr.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 4, 2013, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Don Shovan and Rev. Don “Dink” Benton officiating. Burial will follow in Lanes Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m., at Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Brent Duren, Gary Townes, Scott Adams, Barrett Backus, Kyle Thompson, Brandon Denison, Dylan Stringer and Donnie Limbock. Honorary Pallbearers are James Jones, Donnie Baird, Duane Bryson, Dicky King, Duane Benson, Ronnie Backus, Kenny Backus and Mike Vaughan.
