Obituary of Gladys K. Cox

Gladys R. Cox, age 89, of Detroit, passed away, Thursday, January 9, 2013, at Heritage Home and Health Rehab Center in Paris. Mrs. Cox was born April 21, 1923, in the Rugby Community of Red River County to Fred and Amby Mason Roberts. She was retired from Munsingwear Company in Paris and of the Baptist faith. She was a fantastic cook, enjoyed sewing and her greatest love was homemaking and being a grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Stanley Cox; a grandchild, Douglas Whitley; 1 brother and 3 sisters. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 12, 2013, in Bogata Cemetery with Rev. Doug Hidgon and Rev. Bill Draper officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Honorary Pallbearers are Don Shovan, Jeff Blanton, Phil Modesitt, Jackie Gray and Danny Francis. There will be no formal visitation. Survivors include 1 daughter, Anita Whitley and husband Corkey of Detroit; 1 sister, Martha K. Wood of Rugby; 1 granddaughter, Leslie Travis and husband Pat of Hot Springs, Arkansas; and 2 great grandsons, Jacob and Micah. Memorials may be made to the Bogata Cemetery Association.
