Obituary of Gladys (Stingley) McGuire

Gladys Marie (Stingley) McGuire, age 97, of Snyder, formerly of Clarksville, passed away, Sunday, September 9, 2018.  Mrs. McGuire was born on October 4, 1920 in Wellston, Oklahoma to Herbert and Susie (Davis) Stingley.  She married Shealith Clark in 1938.  She married Malcolm E. McGuire in 1947, in Odessa.  Both preceded her in death. Also, preceding her in death were her parents, siblings and one son, William G. McGuire.  Gladys was elected and served as the Red River County Tax Assessor Collector in 1981.  Mrs. McGuire served as an Elder in the New Shamrock Presbyterian Church in Red River County.  After moving to Snyder in 1999, she became a member of the First Presbyterian Church.  Gladys was a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother to four children and their spouses, ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.  She loved her family, friends, playing games and was the champion Scrabble player of the family. 

 

Survivors include two sons, Malcolm E. McGuire, Jr. and wife, Renee’ of Pearland and Don R. Clark and wife, Rosetta of Aloha, Oregon; one daughter, Jerry Mullis and husband, Charles of Snyder; ten grandchildren, Aaron McGuire and wife, Martha of Houston, Craig McGuire and wife, Lauren of Scottsdale, Arizona, Angela McWilliams and husband, Nick of Abilene, Don Clark of Portland, Oregon, Dana Clark of Bend, Oregon, David Clark of Aloha, Oregon, Jimmy Mullis and wife, Kelly of Kingsland, Jay Mullis  and wife, Debra of Georgetown, Jana Glass and husband, Rodney of Snyder and Joy Mullis of Georgetown; thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. 

 

Graveside services are set for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 15, 2018, at Aikin Grove Cemetery near Clarksville, with Rev. James Brown officiating.  Burial will follow under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.

 

Serving as Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

 

The family will receive friends Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at Clarksville Funeral Home.
